z1 vibrates 3 times

Hi guys, so I've just shifted overseas and my z1 decided to start playing dead. When I try turn it on nothing happens, put it on the charger and try turn it on it vibrates 3 times. I have owned it for about 3-4 months and have looked after it like my baby due to the price it cost when I purchased it. So I took it to the local Sony center and they said that I would have to send it back home to be repaired, like I want to be sending something that I paid $1200 + the 5 year warranty on top through the mail.

Any help cheers guys.

Have you tried a software repair before returning it:

1. Download the PC Companion software from http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/pc-companion/
and install it on your PC.
2. Install and open PC Companion then select Support Zone.
3. Phone Software Update.
4. Start.
5. Repair Phone
6. Continue
7. Accept data removal
8. Next
9. Wait for prepare
10. Select Phone
11. Follow the connection steps

Hi,

I've the same problem. I bought this phone in september 2013 and I was completly satisfied by it. Yesterday I use it in swimming pool (not the first time, I use it a lot into knowing that flaps must be well close) and after 1h (maximum of 5 minutes in total immersion), the screen didn't react, physical button not reactive at all... the phone freezed. Whatever I think just reboot it when it will be dry. At my home, I viewed the screen off, thinking having just to start the phone. I pressed the power button and nothing happen ... maybe no battery... I plug it to the charger dock and constating that the phone vibrate three times and just show me the Sony logo and that the battery is charging. Trying to press start button and just vibrate 3 times and showing me the same screen logo and charging info one more time.

I decide to use PC Compagnon to reinitialize/repair the phone. The process went good, no error message, phone recognized but always the 3 vibrations and just showing logo and charging information...

I don't konw what to do to retrieve a functionnal phone ...

My friend, it happened with me and in my case I am sure it was caused by water even with the covers closed properly the water goes where it shoud not go. After my phone died I put It to charge and the sony logo appeared and started to charge normaly but when i tried to turn it on the phone would vibrate 3 times and start all over again on the charging screen.

The only solution was to use a hair dryer, First step: take your sim card and memory card out of the device sou the air can circulate better. Now use the hair dryer in the hot mode, becareful not to damage getting it too close to the phone but know that it should get hot enough to vaporize the water inside so it has to get a high temperature.

Move the hair dryer heating all sides of the phone and inside where you opened the covers. I had to do it for a long time to make it work again. the phone is working fine now, just as it was before.

Dont believe sony about been waterproof, it can become an expensive nightmare, only use in water if you really need, many people are having problem even with covers well closed and if you still do it, make sure you don´t press the power or volume buttons under water.

I hope it works for you!!

Please do not use a hair dryer on your device; the heat generated by this can cause severe damage to the handset. if you have a situation like this then I would having the handset assessed by an authorised repair agent.

Do not use a hairdryer. Sony uses an industrial grade glue and rubber linings to hold the front and back plates. When you use a hot hair dryer, it will cause the glue to deteriorate (technically that's how you remove the back and front plates by applying heat from a heat gun and removing the back) and will cause more damage to the seals. Furthermore its got an oleophobic sticker on the back and front and blasting it with hot dry air is not a good idea!
