have just upgraded my rooted Z1 Compact to Lollipop and have found that it lost root during the provess. Have tried rerooting using newroot.rar as previously and all I now get is an error message "error: only position independent executables (PIE) are supported." Have tried a clean repair but still get the same error. Have spent hours searching to see what the problem is, but can not find a solution. Any ideas?
I realise that, if I go that route, I'll backup first so that I can restore the bootloader afterwards. Probably need to do something to re-root as things like Titanium backup no longer work. Thanks Sony.
Sorry that I updated to Lollipop, only did so as it restored the facility to move apps to the SD card.
I wonder if I wait a bit though, whether someone will develop another simple way of rooting again.
You know that any major updates or updates will remove root access, that's normal, if you MUST have root access then you could unlock the bootloader as long as your phone it's not network branded, or just wait, and check the XDA forum.
