Z1 Compact Trouble charging

Had phone a week and started having trouble with the phone not charging. Tried pressing the off and volume together but this does not solve problem. Tried to upload software update but when connecting to software via PC the mobile does not connect. (Via USB) It did charge for a short time to 14% from 1% but nothing else. Very frustrating and a waste of time.

Did you try another charger?Are you charging at a wall socket?
