Z1 Compact Questions

I have recently ordered the Xperia Z1 Compact from the EE shop and I thought this would be the best place to ask a few questions concerning it.

My first question is how durable is the phone itself? Will I need a case to keep it safe from every day activites or will it be fine by itself? I am not getting insurance on it so I won't it to be as safe as it can be.

My second question is which software willbe on the phone? I've heard that EE has held back the update but I expect someone here will know whether or not it is available or not for the network and device

If anyone could also tell me what their opinions on the phone is

Thanks for any help anyone can give.

It could be that they rushed the release of the Z1C and had not fully managed to do the waterproofing for a smaller version.

I think all these devices are IP certified for a reason, they won't get it just like that.Maybe there are indeed devices with defects, but most of them are fine.

C_Marriott even though you have not got the phone yet you seem to think you know about its water proofness. I swuggest you listen to those who have had their phones damaged by water. I keep mine well away as when I return for holiday I want to return it fir a refund.

Also don't ignore the other issues. Look at the Z1 pages too as they have similar hardware and I think the same software release.

If I knew then what I know now I wouldn't have wasted my money. Sony seem to do a great job at advertising but not a lot else

I am not saying I know about the phone I am just saying what I know about it so far and being logical. All phones have issues, the way I see this is that it is most likely more water resistant for most phones, maybe its not great at doing what it is supposed to do but sure it would endure more water than most normal phones would.

Like an iPhone for example, if that were to be submerged in a small amount of water then it would most likely destroy it from the inside. For phones like the Z1C it would most likely manage to deal with it and carry on.

See you back here later once you have had the phone for a while.
