Z1 compact glitches when I connect headphones/earphones

Hi I've had a Z1 compact for nearly a year now and it's great. However today when I was out working listening to music through my headphones the phone started glitching it would without me pressing anything either drop the volume or raise it continually even after I locked it and reset the volume or it would activate the track ID app or voice commands. Sometimes it wouldn't let me even lock the device. I then tried my aux cable in my car with the sane results. Then headphones while watching YouTube videos with the only problem I am having there is that the video will stop playing and when I resume playing the volume comes out the device not the connect headset but then resolves itself a few seconds later. It is starting to become a frustration as I cannot listen to music or watch videos without constant interruptions now even after restarting the device.

Try Clearing the SmartConnect app data.

How to clear data on apps.
From your Home screen

1. Tap the Application screen icon.
2. Find and tap Settings > Apps.
3. Swipe to the All tab.
4. Find and tap on the SmartConnect app.
5. Tap Force stop > Clear data.
6. Restart the phone
