Z1 Compact battery problem,

My Z1 Compact bought just over a year ago has developed a battery/power management problem, and the advice I have been able to find has not helped. What happens is that it charges ok, and then lasts some hours of even quite heavy use - but when it hits some point between 20 and 40 per cent full, it suddenly goes to 1 per cent and shuts off until it has been recharged.

I have done the hard restart using the power and volume button together, and used PC Companion to complete a by-software repair, but nothing I have done has helped.

Is this a recognised problem that I can fix in some easy way, or do I have a hardware problem please? If it's the latter, who should I go to to get it fixed? And what should I use/buy to stay online in the meantime please?

They told me so in case of my old Xperia SP when I took it to the service center under the warranty. Sometimes I really don't have time to spend it on taking care of a mobile phone.

I've also had horrendous battery problems since the latest update. Is there a fix for this yet? I don't have time to be fixing something that shouldn't even be broken.
