Z1 charging issue

Hello everybody,

I saw similar posts regarding this matter but what happened wo me was quite a different experience. I bought my Z1 about a monthe ago from a local store and everything was going well untill 4 days ago. I plugged the phone to charge overnight to see in the morning that it has only charged up to 80% and charged constantly afterwards. I still didn't think much of it and moved on with my work.

What kind of charging is this?? Never ever have seen a phone decide at which point to stop charging.

Once the battery was becoming low the next day i plugged it to the charger just to see that it wont get charged. When i connect the charger, the display turns on but the charging indicator next to the battery icon or the LED indicator won't come up. When i switch off the charger, again the display turns on as if when you disconnect the charger. I tried many times and then all of a sudden the indicator turned on and it was charging. I kept it on charge overnight but that time too the battery wasn't fully charged. I checked the battery health from the code *#*#SERVICE#*#* and it said good, no need to replace battery. However once that charge was becoming low, no matter how many times i tried, it didn't get charged. The phone died and i kept the phone on charge overnight but no good has happened by morning. When i connect the charger, the LED blinks thrice in red and thats all. I tried power + volume up button while plugged and the phone vibrated three times and then the LED blinked thrice and red and nothing more than that. Once after like an hour the red light came up as if it was charging from 0% but after sometime, that light was again gone. I upgraded from a SP because the performance was horrible in that phone, and this one on the other end is screwed up in its software. Really dissappointed to face and issue like this as the phone is just brand new. I use the default charger EP880 (5V 1500mA) and at some instances i have plugged it to EP800 (5V 850mA). USB charging too doesn't work. I tried both the chargers on other devices and they get charged just fine. This is really sad coming from a company giant like Sony. I have been a sony mobile user for more than a decade now and i'm starting to lose the faith i have. Please provide me a solution for this matter and please note that i have important data in the memory which i do not want to lose.

Running on 4.4.2 with a build number 14.3.A something (Not the latest 14.4.A.0.108)

I suggest that you try to repair the phone software using PC Companion..

If the issue should still remain I think that this needs to be examined and fixed at a repair center. For more information about how to submit your phone for repair and where, contact your local support team.

tried. it didn't work. as there is no charge, installing software is impossible to me. gave to the service centre. they said the problem is not with the battery, but with the mother board. the parts for the repair aren't available and they returned me the phone. dissappointed to see sony manufacturing phones with such defects. around $500 just gone to waste. fml.

have to start from rock bottom again 😕
