Xperia ZR C5502 Upgrade to 4.2 / 4.3

Hello All,

I am using a Xperia ZR (C5502) in Pune, Maharashtra, India. I have been browsing to find out when is it likely to have the upgradation in place for my handset or whether it will be to 4.2 or directly to 4.3. But then, I read somehwere that the upgradation will be available only for C5503 ZR handsets. So, my queries are the following:

1. Can anyone confirm whether the information is correct that only C5503 is eligible for the uogradation hence ZR handsets C5502 will be deprived of it.

2. Anyone in India (Airtel) has received the over-the-air upgration for Xperia ZR (C5502/C5503)?

Sony has mentioned that the xperia ZR will be receiveng the 4.3 update!!

so not to worry!!!

I own a Xperia ZL i am aslo waitng for 4.3

im also from India.

p.s. the indian devices also get their firmware updates a bit late

        like a  day or two later!

Finally, the update to Android 4.2.2 arrives in India for Xperia ZR C5502 users with the version being 10.3.1.A.67.

Download is going on. Lets see how it goes! Also, I heard that Sony was planning to release updates for ZR users directly to 4.3, though it seems there is still time to get it. For now, Cheers to all ZR users in India!

Well i tried to update since u mentioned that updates have started but i got nothing

Update is available through PC Companion and not through OTA

The update is available through Sony PC Companion only till now and its not yet released over the air in India. So, you may try connecting your phone to any PC and see whether the update is visible on Sony PC companion.

Ok I am a ZR user from India and I had updated my Xperia to 4.2.2 via OTA, it works well, waiting for 4.3 as there are still some problems with ZR such as heating and fast draining of battery.

I read in GSMarena that Sony are already working on releasing Android 4.4 (KitKat) for Xperia Z1 in november. It could be possible that Sony might just skip 4.3 and go for 4.4. If so, We might have 4.4 in late December.
