Hi,
After the latest software update my phone started to work fine with its battery (finally!), but also started to experience another strange issue (had no doubts about Sony messing up something). Specifically sometimes my phone just stops recognizing the SIM card. After a phone restart it recognizes it again. This happens every couple of days, if it happened every couple of weeks I could handle it. I tried the SIM card in another phone and it works just fine. The problem happens on a regular basis in Denmark. I spent 3 weeks in Italy last month, disabled data service (due to roaming), and the problem never occurred. Came back to Denmark, reactivated mobile data, and the problem keeps arising. Any idea? Please don't just tell me to repair the system with PC companion! Thanks
Hi,
Could you please elaborate? How do you mean that it stops recognizing the SIM-card? Do you lose the signal strength or what happens? If the phone loses the connection with the SIM-card, the phone should reboot automatically but as far as I understand, this does not happen?
Are you doing anything special when this happens? Using an app or similar?
Hi. Thank for the answer, but I have nothing else to add to the previous message. The phone has good signal and generally works fine. Sometimes, without any correlation noticed so far, the icon "no SIM inserted" pops up. Nothing else happens, besides the phone not having network, of course. It does not reboot nor anything else. And the only way to get the SIM recognized again is rebooting the phone. Now the problem is that this is happening way too often. If it happened once a week I could handle it. But it happens nearly every day!
Okay, I suggest that you remove the SIM-card and clean it with a cloth to make sure there are no dirt or similar that is causing this. You could also use the phone while it's booted into safe mode to see if same behaviour appear.
If you still experience this, do you have the possibility to try another SIM-card for a while?
Thanks for the help. I'm still trying a couple of things. But don't manage to reboot in safe mode as described in the link just posted. Probably the procedure with Android 5 is slighly different?
I tried the SIM card in another phone for 1 week and was totally OK. Unfortunately have no other SIM card to try in this same phone.
