Xperia ZL internal speaker (interesting fix)

Hello,

Like some members here suddenly my internal speaker stopped working. When I dialed out a call no one could hear me (microphone), and I could not hear them (internal speaker). When I switch to speakerphone the microphone worked and I could hear them through the speakerphone. I feared I would need to send the phone in for a hardware repair.

A day went by and I was backing up my phone about to try a full phone restore like some forums have mentioned. Out of curiosity though I plugged in a headset into the headphone jack. When I tapped on the screen I could hear the "click" response that I normally would be hearing through the internal speaker. When I removed the headset I could not hear this click. I did this a few times, re-inserted the headset and removed it while tapping the screen for the sound effect. I also inserted the headset jack halfway a few times just to test.

Miraculously it fixed it. When I removed the headset for about a 4th time the click sounds were back and I immediatley placed a call and could hear the person and they could hear me. This may not work for everyone but it worked for me.

My question is, is this truly a hardware issue or a software issue? in hopes it would be fixed with the new 4.4 KitKat update that is suppose to happen next month if it is software related. It certainly appears to be software related as I was able to restore functionality by doing some really strange things and my phone is out of warranty.
