Xperia ZL and problems

My name is Umer & I am from India. I have been using Xperia ZL from the last two years. It is my first time to post something on the Sony Support forum. In these two years i was facing the issue of audio in call. while i was in call, the incoming voice was very low. 

Two days ago my phone suddenly died. My phone restarted itself twice and then suddenly died. It wouldnt turn on. I went to Sony Service centre in Nehru Place. They said the phone is dead and cannot be fixed. They are so stupid and unaware of how to solve the issues with Xperia Phones. 

I updated my phone myself using sony PC companion, My phone got updated but the real issue is with battery.

One more strange thing i saw in my phone is that when i boot my Xperia ZL, Initially the Sony Xperia logo appears while booting, then CLARO logo appears in my phone and i have no idea why does it happen. I searched about claro logo online on wikipaedia and i saw the same logo represents Claro Americas which is part of América Móvil, a Mexican telecom group serving clients in  South American Countries. I dont know whether Sony thinks that i am in Soith America, but i am in india. In the user profile i see some spanish word which i dont understand. 

1. I am not a fan of games so i dont play games on my phone.But still the issue of  battery starts heating up very quickly even when restarting the hand-set is there.

2. The hand-set also has SIM issues keeping in mind I have proper Micro-SIM card that I bought it from Airtel. Almost every time it showed me No signal. 

3. When fortunately the hand-set captured any signal and if some body calls then there were call drops.

4. Most of the times, when starting the hand-set it will show Sony logo and their special effects with colourfull waves appears on the screen and then it shuts down abruptly even if the battery is 95% charged. It also use to heat up alot while I restarted the hand-set.

5. When I put phone on charge, It works . But when i take off the charging cable from phone. Phone dies within a minute and refuses to turn ON. 
6. When the Charging is ON, phone shows 70 or 80 % battery but after the phone shuts suddenly and restarts after putting on charge,  it shows 4% battery. So the battery kind of full and empty suddenly.
7. I heard that Sony had released some update to fix battery death issue. But I updated my phone, still nothing seems to work.  

Most of all, the reason why I am upset is because of the Sony Service Center services.

Did you bought your phones from Sony Center India?
Or you bought it second-hand or from a 3rd party retailer?

Because what you have in hand is a carrier-locked model and that explains the whole thing about dropped calls/no signal etc. The phone is simply locked to Claro telco and somebody sold that locked phone and you bought that.You tried using other telco than Claro(ie Airtel)so it will just simply doesnt work all the time.

Thanks for replying to my query.

I bought my Xperia ZL from Sony centre India in Feb 2014 and it was working smoothly since then till the problem started  two days ago. The problem started with my phone suddenly restarting twice as if it was updating the android version but actually that wasnt happening. So i thought to get rid of problems by doing factory reset. I performed factory reset. Then i updated my phone using Sony PC companion. That's how the claro logo started appearing after Sony Xperia logo during boot. Two days ago i didnt know about this claro thing. I got this claro thing only after updating my phone using Sony PC companion. I also tried to repair using PC Companion. But that also couldnt make any difference. 

Following are my software details.   

Android version: Android 5.1 (Lollipop)

Latest available software: 10.7.A.0.222

Earlier i have used Idea, vodafone and reliance networks also before finally switching to Airtel 5 months back.

I guess this claro thing could be the reason for all the problems(like sudden battery drop, phone shut down, no signal etc) in my phone 

Please tell me how to get rid of this claro thing and how to fix my phone.

I see. This looks more to software problem.

Could try this

Open Dialer > Press *#*#7378423#*#* > Tap on Service Info > Tap SIM Lock

See if it all ends with number "0"

This double checks if you had updated your ZL with a software meant for Carrier Locked phone.

tapped on Service info and tapped SIM lock and i saw following responses:

[ ] Network                0

[ ] Network Subset    0

[ ] Service Porvide    0

[ ]corporate                0

[ ]SIM                         0

Yes, all of them end with number "0"

Now, what to do?

You need to perform a software repair to reinstall your update. This might take a while to do and uses alot if Internet.

I have performed software update and software repair also yesterday. But couldnt get rid of Claro.

I guess i will try software repair again.

I performed software repair again using Sony PC Companion. but nothing is fixed. I still am facing the same problem.

(1)When I put phone on charge, It works . But when i take off charging cable phone dies down in a second and refuses to turn ON even if the battery is 100%. 

 (2) Claro is still there in my Xperia ZL. I cant get rid of it. 

I got this claro menace after i updated my phone using Sony PC companion. Either it is problem in battery or software issue. I am not sure which one. 

Do you have any idea what might work?

When my phone is dead. I plug in the charger & press power button & volume up button to start it. 

Then it starts booting.

Initially i see the Sony Xperia Logo then after some time Claro Logo.

then Android is starting Optimising application..30 of ..266.

Until all the process is continued it boots as if it has been updated while it is not. It is just switched ON.

Can anyone help me out of this situation?

I'm facing the issue of Battery death, claro and Switch ON.

I have tried all the solutions from updating with Sony PC companion, repairing with Sony PC companion, powerbutton with volume up, power button with volume down. Nothing seems to work fix it.

After I peformed repair on my Xperia ZL using Sony PC companion and also using xperia Companion. I got the following problem. 

The phone repeatedly turn ON and OFF. My batetry was almost 95% nefore it started. And it continued all night untill the battery went down. 

Then i plug in the charger and same thing happening again.

Xperia ZL turning ON & OFF repeatedly 

There doesnt seeem to be the end to problems. Infact the problems keep on increasing by using PC companion update or repair.

Now I am pretty sure that Sony PC companion is the root cause of all the problems if not solutions. 

Because Updating or repairing with Sony PC companion doesnt make any difference. 

I suspect the claro menace which is responsible to all the problems in my phone got from Sony PC companion.

Claro is like AIDS and PC companion is HIV positve.

Xperia companion is useles as well. 

I am too tired to try to get it back to Life.
