Hi there,
apparently my device seems to run quite smooth except that the front cam freezes sometimes, sometimes with purple stripes and sometimes it says that the cam cannot be found. First of all I thought the cam module is defective.
But then I found out that this issue only occurs when LTE is activated. When I switch to flight mode or deactivate LTE the cam is working properly. Mostly this behaviour occurs when I have a bad LTE connection (only 1 bar).
Can somebody reproduce this problem. I don't believe it's a hardware issue.
If your LTE connection is poor then it will be drawing in more power to compensate which could or it sounds like this extra power needed is causing interference with the camera so I have no magic answer for you only to contact Xperia care and see if your device needs to be inspected http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/
Meanwhile the mobile was serviced by a Sony authorized service center. They exchanged the battery but the problem still persists.
I figured out that it only happens when the mobile is connected to LTE, WiFi is deactivated and the phone is sending/receiving data (small arrows for up und downloing appear). While only LTE is showing the cam is working. Unfortunately I only get up to 2 bars max. within my area, therefore I cannot say if the problem would be solved with a better connection.
So I guess it's some kind of a "software feature" in Lollipop 5.0. Hopefully Sony can fix this with the next update.
Btw, when the camera freezes it's only the picture itself that gets stuck, I can change the settings of the camera or switch between main and front camera.
