Xperia Z3 not switching to the strongest network 2G, 3G or 4G

My xperia z3 has a problem with switching automatically to the strongest network available. Vene if there is a 2G or a 3G network with stronger signal it stays on 4G even if the signal drops. The most pressing issue with this is that I get missed calls where people say they call be and cannot get through.

Best Regards,

Adam

@Adamt8181 Do you have the network mode set up this way?

The setup in my settings is:

LTE (preffered)/WCDMA/GSM

and the signal goes down at some places to no network coverage and the phone is not automatically switching to a network with the strongest signal.

That's strange, have you checked if the same occurs in safe mode?

Even if no bars are showing,it doesn't mean it's 100% no signal,
LTE is only for data usage, so if you not using data, switch to 3g only and see if it works OK without any problems, and problem solve from there.

Same problem on my phone.  Even though my it is set to 4G (preferred)/3G/2G, it only works on 4G and never switches, even if there is no 4G available, but there is 3G available.

Well actually, when I've had zero bars no phone calls comes through to my phone. The data traffic while in use is indicated by up and down arrows.

Manually switching to 3G or even GSM (2G) the bars go up. It's quite irritating to manually have to switch. If the phone is in my bag or jacket it's easy to miss to check if the signal is week.

I'm not sure what country you are in, but fones use gsm to receive calls, and 2g/3g/4g to receive data.
I've had instances where I've had no data connection but still receive calls.

I live in Texas in a region I have lived for 10 years.  I have owned many phones since I have lived here and I can say that this Z3 has bar far the worst reception of any phone I have ever owned.  I want to know why?  The simple answer is, and I am just guessing here, but Sony just put a crappy antenna in the Z3.  I welcome anyone to prove me wrong with technical details (i.e. antenna model specs).

USA uses cdma for calls , which in principal is the same as gsm,
Most new fones support both,
older fones you were stuck with whatever your country supplied and needed a new cheap fone if travelling to gsm areas, or vice versa.
You are right about the antennas, there are different types and where they are placed on the fones can make a difference.
If your problem happened to me here, id try a few different network sims to see if it was still happening, every network has dead spots and overlapping conflicts, dropped calls are nothing new.
