Hi charlysays,
Welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
In this type of situation, I suggest waiting til you get back to the country of purchase, as a service agent from another location may not be able to perform the repair appropriately and maintain the water resistance of the device.
I apologize for any inconvenience this may cause,
Another victim of the broken screen issue.
I'm very sad I'm hearing this !
As you are new to the forum I' m sure you haven't read yet all the issues with the broken glass.
I don't want to disappoint you but this is the truth !!
Sony claims they use a durable tempered glass on both the front and back of the phone.
But the fact doesn't prove this.
I think Sony should withdraw all Z3compact and replace them such as in the guarantee.
The link above might be helpful with people who have suffered the cracking issue.
It also gives you useful information about your rights as a consumer.
I think they have a helpline that you can ring too... but you might need to be a subscriber to use their legal services (I think it's about £8

Good luck !!
I have had the exact same issue on 2 different Z3 Compact phones now. The first it occured just 3.5 weeks after having the phone. They allowed me to return it and get get credit even though it was beyond the 14 day return policy. I felt there was an obvious design defect but I liked the phone so much I actually bought the phone again. About a month after having that one, the exact same thing happened.
I have spent HOURS with Sony to point out I'm not the only one this is happening. There is an obvious design flaw. I have never had a phone break on my let alone 2 differrent phones of the same model just weeks after having it. For a $550+ phone, I don't expect to have to keep sending it in for repair. Even then they told me they could not tell me how long they'd have it and that I may actually be charged. Not acceptable.
I'm now going to continue publicize this with social media until it's resolved or Sony acknowledged
Does anyone know why the back glass brokes so easy??
My 4 months old Z3 compact has the back glass broke. I realized it when I take out of my pocket the cellphone and I saw that It was broken. No falls, no hits, nothing that may cause it. Maybe just hot.
It seems that it starts to be a massive issue with the Z3 phones. Does anyone know whether sony has told anything?
