Xperia Z2 won't turn on

So. My Xperia is on (I can hear the notification ringtone go off whenever my phone gets a text message or a Facebook message) but it won't respond when I push the power button to light/wake up the screen. This started happening at 9PM and it is now 1:30AM. I don't know what to do.

That's odd, press and hold power & volume up for 10 seconds

I have that problem too. You can either wait for it to work again or you can hard reset the phone. Theres a red button right beside the sim slot, just hold it for three second and the phone with vibrate for three times and you can start up your phone again.

Just make sure to press it gently as its quite sensitive

I've had the same problem twice.

The phone would be in "sleeping mode", and when I'd try to use it, neither the screen nor the buttons would be responsive to anything (on/off, volume and camera button), but the notification light  and sound would work.

Only solution I found was to hard reset the phone, which needs a pretty small pin and is annoying.

Any clues as to the cause of this and how to permanently fix it?

Or should I just ask to exchange my phone?

I am having the same issue with my new z2. it was on standby with a blue notification light flashing.

Despite the fact it was on about. 98% battery. It wouldn't. Wake up so had to push power button in for 10 seconds. And it booted up.

I actually experienced this with the shop display. Model too

Any ideas?

Yes I have had my xperia for less than 2 weeks and 2 nights ago it just would not turn on/wake up after using it only 30 minutes before.

I rang Sony in Sydney and they had no idea so I have returned it to the retailer whi has sent it to Sony for repair.

I did not know about the red button reboot , so may be that might have fixed it.

I'm also experiencing this, it's very frustrating. As soon as anyone knows what is causing it and has a solution please post.

I got this problem too, so annoying. Removing Google Now widget seems to solve it.

I have just got back my xperia Z2 from Sony Sydney after repairs. See earlier post.

It works.

No real clues as to why it did not turn on before.

Their response was they did the following, 2gb software upgraded, checked main pcb, cleaned contacts, re-aligned connectors, reset to manufactureres specifications.

Don'y know if this helps.

I can say they got it back to me quickly.
