Is the drive bus powered or does it have a separate power supply?

Is the drive Mac formatted?

Some hard drives don't work with smartphones via OTG because they require more power to run, which smartphones cannot provide. Usually hard drives use power from PC/Laptop when connected (and it can provide a lot of power).

If the drive is in NTFS format the phone will not read it as that is a Windows specific format. You would need the drive to be in FAT32 format and it is unlikely that a 1TB drive is in that format due to the file transfer limitations of FAT32.

I have that same problem with my Xperia Z2 and my external Hard drive worked before i updated to lollipop. The format on my Hard drive is FAT32 but it's not working anymore. Do you have any ideas how to fix this?
