Xperia Z2: battery drained and charging issues

Hello,

I have been the owner of a Z2 for two years now. In the two years, the phone was great and never had problems but recently it's battery has been draining and takes a long time for the battery to recharge using its original wall charger. It started like two weeks ago when I had reset my phone. The battery drains even when the phone is not in use. Last night, it chargered up to 49% and when I checked the phone in the morning it was at 15%, it drained more than 25% over night with no apps running. When using the phone during the day to check my email or listen to Pandora, the phone overheats to temperatures that makes it uncomfortable to put the phone back in your pocket after using it. I've tried alot of things such as turning off synchronization and trying to optimization the battery but nothing is working. I think it's the hot temperatures of the summer in California that are affecting the battery but then again that's just my opinion. Sorry for making this a lengthy read but I'm trying to make it as detailed as possible. Your help and suggestions will be very helpful. Thanks.

Regards,
Redsuns

@Redsuns562

even if you close all the apps, there are apps running in the background like facebook, whatsapp, etc, with that said, you could repair the phone with XC and test different wall chargers and/or cables
