Hello,
I bought my xperia z2 10 months ago from Bell in Canada. I have loved almost everything about my xperia z2. It is the only phone I am still excited to use everyday. That being said, I have had some re-occuring problems for the past 7-8 months. My earphones do not work with my phone.
In the beginning I had no problems. I use my phone on a regular basis to listen to music while working out. One day they stopped working. I was using my Dr. Dre Urbeats. After I got home, I used my Sony MDR1-RNC's to try them out. At first they did work, but in the next week they stopped working as well. Both were functional as I had tested them on my computer and other friend's Xperia z2. When I would put my headphones and earphones in, they were not recognized by the phone (Sony smart connect).
I first reached out to Bell Repair Services for a solution. They told me they would replace my audio jack. I went to a store and left them my phone. They sent it to a Bell Repair Facility and I was left without a phone for 3 weeks. When I got it back, I was happy to see my audio jack was working. All was well, for about a month. The problem happened again. Disgruntled, I went online to look for solutions. These are some of the solutions I tried:
- Factory reset
- Holding the Mic button for 3 seconds while plugging in the headphones
- Using a CTIA/OMTP adapter
- Force stop Sony Connect (Worked once for a week)
I had to send my phone again to the bell store for another repair. I told them what happened and they again suggested an audio jack replacement. Once again, I was without my phone for 3 weeks. When I had my phone, it worked for three weeks but AGAIN stopped working. I would have called them again, but I was in my second year of university and was extremely busy. So once I finished school I contacted Bell and told them my problems. They told me to contact Sony Mobile.
When I contacted Sony Mobile, they provided me with specific information and were very helpful. After telling them my story they said it was most likely a software problem. They suggested a to use the sony companion program and use the fix my phone program. I followed the program and it was a success! The audio jack worked perfectly. After 10 months the problem was found and correctly solved.
Until two days later. I was on the treadmill with my phone on the treadmill pocket when it started to pause. Luckily, pressing play would solve this problem. After 10 minutes they stopped completely. Now I am back to the same problem.
Can anyone help me with this? I really love my Sony phone and their technical support was very helpful, but I have been dealing with this problem for about 10 months with no success. I am extremely afraid I will not get any help once my warranty is over.Any help is greatly appreciated!!
Also, here are some extra facts as well.
-Phone is in great condition
-Dropped 3-4 times, but with no great damage and was in a case
-Phone has recently started to reboot once a day
-Phone will turn off and not turn off for an hour
If that was too long, here is the short version:
-Audio Jack doenst work
-Tried different headphones, factory reset, Sony Repair app, other software tips
-Have repaired the phone for this problem twice, with no success
-Problem has been happening for almost a year
Thanks in Advanced!
