Xperia Z1 problems on all devices??

Wow! I just had a look at this forum and i'm not so sure if I want to get a Z1 anymore. They seem to have lot of problems.

My question is: Which problems occur on all devices and wich ones occur only on some of them (few %).

Talking about: bad pictures, lag when filming, overheat, bad wifi and so on..

When I read this forum it seems to be the worst phone ever made in history. I dont know if I should believe everything that had been said here??

I'm hoping that this is what they are working on.. http://gadgets.ndtv.com/mobiles/news/sony-xperia-z1-tipped-to-receive-android-44-kitkat-update-in-no...

From the push they are giving the phone at the moment, i'm sure soon enough a update with come along with atleast some of these issues fixed / improvements.

I got my Z1 yesterday and u have to say that it is an amazing phone.. I have used the phone heavily and now it is 10:30 PM and i am still having 59% of my battery usage.. I even played Candy Crush for 20 min.
Wifi is better than the Z I used to have, reception is better in places I did not get any signal when I used the Z
Camera pictures are a Wow.. Have no issues with it at all.
Am galling in love with this device..
A big hi from Jordan - Middle East to Sony

Thanks to everyone! I'm still not sure what i'm gonna buy next week but your anwsers helped me.

2 of you said that they havent got any overheat problem (while you were playing 3d games etc..)

But I've read somewhere that the overheating problem could happen when you are using the camera on a long period. ie: you are filming a concert then the camera shut itself off after 10-15 minutes because of overheating.

Did it happen to anyone here?

Another question: Can you play games with your PS3 controller paired with the Z1 ? If so, does it work fine?

Hey Mate,
I've worked as a tech for apple for over 4 years and saw millions of people complaining about 90% of the phones features and usability. To refer to that 99% of these complaints have always been user error related.
I decided to take up android early this year and went with the HTC one. Was a nice phone, all usual complaints were bearable I was how ever let down by the camera as I found 4mp to be a let down in most shots. I received my Z1 last week...
Comparison I can provide you is against the HTC One and just a personal opinion from experience. Battery issues usually caused by poor networks where the phone is caused change bands and frequencies often. Turning 4g off and using manual brightness (100% during day and 0% at night) I get a full day out of pretty heavy use with good 30% left at 9pm. Take into consideration that this phone is still a new toy to me and I'm using it more then I normally would. So I take pictures of random crap, allot of Instagram, calls, speed tests etc. I live in aust, today it's 34degrees and going up. I've not experienced any unusual heat beyond what HTC one or iPhones produce. Camera.... This is a tricky one... I've taken some mind blowing pictures during the day, with ridiculous amount of detail on manual mode and even auto does great. Low light performance isn't great. But it's very easy to see WHAT actually causes the issue. All manufacturers deal with noise reduction in their own way. HTC over processes everything in in good light and over sharpens all of your shots. Sony like most others have allot of post processing in place. In low light after processing tends to smooth the picture out removing usual grain but along with it allot of details. This is a firmware issue and surely can be fixed. But even then, the camera likes to use flash in more situations then most other phones I've used and who you let it, the pictures come out great. Wifi signal isn't great and definitely needs to be addressed.
Over all... Great phone, from design of hardware to software. The sony android skin is fantastic and minimalistic. It's a huge upgrade from the HTC one as far as I am concerned. So take everything from forums under consideration. An erase and install does wonders, 90% of problems reported by people are software related including heat! resets! shutdowns, lagg, etc.
hope this helps

59% at 22.30 !!

Mine gets to 53% by 13:00 and I use it occasionally.

Does seem to be some big variances in battery performance reported Slightly_frowning_Face

I had 2 so far and both have had black screen which not even a hard reset could sort. Both were on the latest software as well. Seems they may have rushed it out. Hoping my 3rd one is fault free.

I totally agree, i got the Z1 two weeks ago and havent experienced any of these isues apart from the camera's crappy superauto feature. Overall its an amazing piece of hardware, also i must say im impressed with battery usage the past couple of days ive been charging it after 14 hours of service!!! It doesnt even reach 30 percent by the end of the day, and during normal usage. Its weird reading all these battery related issues with people having the same FW as mine.

Most issues on an android smartphone of any brand come from software. It means they can potentially be fixed with upgrades or patches. More problematic are hardware issues, especially if a manufacturer has critical ones in a series and especially if it refuses to address or fix them within warranty. Sometimes intentionally and fraudulently. From experience with the Z and the fact that Z1 has same materials (apart from the frame which is not problematic on the Z), I would caution you to google xperia Z screen crack because you may encounter this on the Z1. It is a VERY painful experience and there are many many people who bought the Z and will never buy a Z1 or any Sony product because it again. Just know if your screen cracks, it is very likely a manufacturing fault as with the Z and don't believe the service center it is all your fault if it does, without you mishandling it or dropping it. The Z was supposed to be my phone for about 2 years, having just what I needed, with a somewhat mediocre screen and night camera performance but just perfect with being water resistant. It only lasted 3 months and then the screen self cracked. In front of my eyes. I then went online to find it was a common flaw and that everyone is being ignored by Sony and Sony wanted around 80% of price of new phone for repairs from everyone it happened to... Just informing you in case it happens to you on the Z1. I too thought posts were likely bogus before it happened to me.

Reatu: You can google screen crack with any other phone and you'll get alot of results. (samsung, iphone, HTC..) I dont think this is worst with Sony devices.. Maybe a miss conception can occur here and there but I guess most of the complains come from people who havent paid enough attention to their phone. This is my opinion but hey.. who knows.
