Hi! I recieved my Z1 Compact yesterday as a birthday gift. It worked great...for 3 hours. Then it went dead..completely. the phone had about 80% battery left when it died.
I have tried: Resetting it (on/off button+volume up) for 10 sec or more...
Pressing the little red off buttonnext to the simcard
Removing sim/sd card..and re-inserting them
Charging the phone..
It won't respond to anything, and the phone is not warm i.e no processes is going haywire
Any suggestions? Really annoyed with this as I had high hopes for my first Sony mobie. Not a good start
Connect the phone to the wall charger, not the dock nor a computer > press and hold power & volume up for 10 seconds > let it charge for 2 or 3 hours
Thank you, but I've already tried that. No sign of life, and no sign of the phone charging....
it will seem like the phone its not charging but it will work, if that doesn't work then you will have to take it back to the store as you probably got a defective unit
When I press the on\off button and hold the volume-up button for 10 seconds or more, nothing happens. There should be a vibration or something, right?
You might want to take it back to the store
Yeah, I see no other option at the moment.. And I'm really considering another brand....
hold the red button next to the sim-card cuple of seconds .ti worked for me when mine froze when i was surfing the web.
EDIT: Problem solved!
I have exactly the same problem.
It's worked flawlessly for the couple of weeks I've had it. 80-90% power on the battery.
Now it's completely dead. Not warm. Screen black. No light when the charing cable is connected. No response whatsoever when the power button is pressed or held. Nothing. Just dead.
It has not been dropped. It has not been wet.
I am not happy
EDIT: Problem solved! I followed these instructions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DU2u0ISzTzs
I pressed down the power AND the volume/zoom down simultaneously and the phone restarted. Seems to be working fine now.
This is apparently a well nown "sudden-death" bug that affects Xperia phones. A software update was supposed to fix it, but I guess it can still be an issue.
Very big minus to SONY for not having this solution up front in the support FAQ.
The same has just happened to me. Totally panicking that I had just lost all the photos I had taken of my new born this week. Thankfully I found this forum and followed the advice. Thanks for your assistance.
Sony, I'm not impressed
