Hello Everyone,
I would like to see if anyone could help me with an issue I just encountered today. My Xperia Z1's AR effect is not working! When I select the app within the camera app I get the message: "Unfortunately, AR effect has stopped" and I don't know what to do to fix this. My Xperia Z1 is running Android 4.3 (14.2.A.1.136). Someone, please help me!
Hi diego87
Welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.
With the information supplied, I suggest clearing the data from the AR application.
Menu > Settings > Apps > All > AR Effect > Clear Data
Once this has been done try using the application.
I hope this helps.

Hello Jake,
I have tried that and it still doesn't work. I also tried disabling and enabling and nothing! I hate to see this happen since I use the AR effect a lot. Thanks for helping me out.
No problem,
It sounds although you may have a software issue, if clearing the data did not work I can only really suggest performing a Factory Data Reset, but before you do that try clearing the data from the Camera application within the same location and then test.
To perform a Factory Data Reset do the following.
Menu > Settings > Backup & Reset > Factory Data Reset > Untick remove internal Storage.
Before you perform this task however make sure to back the handset, follow the link below for instructions on how to perform this task.
I hope this helps.

Jake,
Is that the only solution to this? Any possibility to uninstall and reinstall the app?
Unfortunately the application cannot be removed from the handset it is default software, did you try clearing the Camera Application Data as suggested?
There is a possibility that this could be related to other third party software, I can suggest trying to remove any applications that you may have downloaded recently that may have caused this issue, you could also try defaulting all applications.
Menu > Settings > Apps > Menu Key > Press Reset App Preferences.
Let me know how you get on.

Hello Jake,
Unfortunately it didn't work, the app isn't working.
That is unfortunate, then I can only advise performing the Backup and Factory reset.
I really do apologize for this inconvenience.

Hello jake,
Will the factory reset effect any data stored in the microSD card?
No,it will erase only phone memory.
