xperia z with a 32gb micro sdhc card problems

hi i upgraded my o2 uk contract yesterday to get the xperia z and i've put my 32gb micro sdhc card in the phone which is an class 4 card and my only problem is when i go to add my music onto the card it always seems to stop when i get upto devildriver and yet it comes up with wired file names and exceeds 198gb for some unkown reason and i know its not my music as its never done this with any other memory card i've had in the past and i've spoken to sony uk chat support but got the reply saying have i formatted the card using my laptop which i have done but yet still get it come up so my other way is to upload my music liberay to google play music which in some ways i don't wish to as i don't go out and buy my music i download it from other sites but is there away i can get around this or not

I had problems when using the standard windows formatter so I downloaded this formatter...

https://www.sdcard.org/downloads/formatter_4/

I then had no problems at all with my card.

I would try that first and see if you still get the problem?

hi i tried using this software and formatted the card but still having the same problems but then again i'm not using a sandisk micro sdhc 32gb card and could this be the reason why i'm having such problems with it as i don't mind spending more cash out on getting another card

After re-reading your post I am not sure this is a memory card problem but maybe a file problem, where and why does it say it exceeds 198gb?

I take it you have also tried transfering the files using a card reader and not using the phone itself?

Basically when I've tried to use a memory card reader it exceeds more then the 32gb that's on the memory card as when I transfer music from my laptop hard drive on the memory card I get come up load of weird files in one folder with strange names (it's hard to explain) and yup I've tried a card reader yet get the same problem I then tried to transfer using my phone same problem as before but instead both walkman and Google music player comes up with file can't be played as all my music files are mp3 set at a bite rate of 128kbps and could it be with something to do with the sort of memory card as im not using a SanDisk card only an unbranded one

So if you've tried a card reader also at least we know it is nothing to do with the phone.

It could be your memory card but it could also be a corrupt file somewhere, the way I would check would be to create a new folder on your desktop and then copy all the mp3's (you want on your phone) into it so you know that once finished it is less than 32gb.

If you do it in batches of say 50 songs at a time you can keep an eye on the size of the folder, you could also transfer 50 songs at a time onto the sd card and see how many it actually lets you transfer.

Are you sure you just haven't got too many songs on there? lol

I wouldn't buy a new card until you're sure it's not a corrupt file.

I basically done that as all the files I want are on my xperia u which total to 1.57gb with the added extra files to be put on also I do have another 32gb sdhc card that I got for my acer tablet as I've decided to give it ago but if I get the same problem then I'll go get a SanDisk card and try that way but if not then surely theirs something wrong with my memory card slot on my phone and yep I'm sure as the total music I want on my phone is 8Gb as I want quite abit of music on my phone and I'm sure it's not a corrupt file

I've been following this and find it difficult to understand

Lets take the phone out of the senario for the moment and just use your PC

If you insert you SD card into your PC and copy the files you want to transfer over using explorer and then check the card - are they all there as expected -

As im not using a desktop pc only a laptop that's on windows 7 and I've tried transferring files from my laptop to the micro sd hc card which I transfer 1.57gb of music which was on my xperia u then when I remove the memory card from my laptops usb port while being in a usb card reader it the drops from 1.57gb all the way down to 758mb so I'm thinking its summit to do with my memory cards as the second 32gb card that I've got dose exactly the same thing
