My two week old phone got damaged after I tried the waterproof feature. It was fine on the day and then the next day the screen went hazy. I took it into my network provider repair centre and was told the phone is WATER RESISTANT and not WATERPROOF and they advised me to take the matter up with Sony directly.
Sent the phone to a Sony Repair Centre in JHB where they are also telling me they won't fix the phone because it is water damaged. Surely the nature of the claim made my Sony that the phone is waterproof should allow for warranty on this. I made sure the flaps were all closed bit this still happened; and I am discovering so many other similar cases.
A marketing agency in RSA for Sony contacted me after I lodged a complaint and they say they will escalate to Sony but no response yet. This is not good for your brand reputation and trust, considered false advertising if the claim cannot be backed up on proper use of the device.
My C6603 is also not waterproof/water resistant . The problem is because of separating of back glass as a result of overheating after "heavy" use ( like an hour of wathing the video or just browsing !). So the "damage story" begins at the corner under the 3,5 mm jack. Now I can open my back glass easily since the glue that the Sony use is on eternal vacaition. This problem is also supported by problem in camera flash, so you have to press hard the backglass to prevent spreading of the led light through holes of backglass and thus obtaining purple mist photos!
I also talked hard to explain the situation Sony centers but they deny the situation. My next phone will be any other phone but the Sony...Hello Sonyguys, can you hear me?
Hi All,

my phone has come back from repairers because it will not charge , they have not repaired it because they say it has water damage , the litmus strip in the charging port has gone slightly pink , when i brought this in to vodafone shop the manager even said this is not water damage & should be ok , but obviously not , what on earth made sony put a litmus strip by the most used part of the phone ? if i get know joy tomorrow i will be putting this to the national papers because sony are selling goods that are not fit for purpose & under the sale of goods act 1979 it states this
the sale of goods act lays down several conditions that all goods sold by by a trader must meet
THE GOODS MUST BE
(1 ) as described
(2) of satisfactory quality
(3)fit for purpose
well 1 & 3 dont meet the requirements in my eyes , not once was it ever pointed out that be careful when charging be cause it will void the warrenty if that strip turns pink or red, so iwill wait until tomorrow when i take it back to the shop , other than that i will never ever get a sony product again & will make sure every one knows this as well watch out for it in the papers
