Xperia Z Walkman App

I'm having a ton of problems streaming my PC's mp3 to the app.  Windows 7 64 bit.  Walkman see's the PC and sometimes will display the folder structure but gives an error " Please try again later", so folder don't display any mp3 files.  Sometimes it will display the entire folder structure and mp3 files but will load the file in a player but not play the songs at all.  On rare occasions it will work fine.  Now to get it to work on those rare occasions, I have to delete the Windows Media player library, recreate it and turn on streaming.  This is everytime I shut the pc or phone.  Can someone here shed some light on the issue.  My Sony STRDN-1020 Home theater reciever see's my pc everytime and plays every file all the time but not my Z phone.  BTW , media streaming options in Windows 7see's the phone as an unknown device, yet my Sony STRDN-1020 appears as such, STRDN-1020

Hi and welcome to the community! Since you're new please be sure that you have checked out our Discussion guidelines.

Unfortunately all of the DLNA functionality I am aware of in this handset is designed to stream from, not to the handset. However just to troubleshoot this further, please install ES File Explorer onto the handset which will allow you to browse the files on the PC and see if they play ok.

I think Sony can fix it Sam.  Upon further examination, the songs do play but not under the Folder directory but under the All Music, Album directories, etc.  I cleaned out all my mp3 tags and have every mp3 under an Mp3 fold in my computer.  So the songs appear in your app as "unknown Album" but play. What never plays are Itunes downloads. I will try the ES app.  Thank you!

I get  login fail with ES file explorer and can't access music files on the PC.  It see's all the Xperia files though.  Any help would be appreciated.  My Sony amp see's my pc clearly and I don';t understand why this phone doesn't.  How about someone tells me how to reset the wi-fi on the phone.

It has been working for 3 days.  All pc music streams fine to the walkman app and plays, but only from the All Music directory.  The All Music directory is a walkman config because my music in the pc is all in the folders/subfolder MP3 directory.  Going directly there, the songs don't play.  I don't know if this is the issue, but since I'm a Dj, I use MP3tag to strip all the tags of the songs, rename them the way I like them.  There are no covers, etc.  My Virtual Dj loads them fine with all the info correctly displayed.  I use ARTIST - SONG.

BTW I don't like this lack of response on Sony's part enough to send back the phone.  This simple networking stuff has existed for years and I shouldn't be having this problem at all.  BTW Music Unlimited is a PITA.  That of course is in your face everytime you open Walkman and works 100%.
