My sim card tray broke when I tried to remove the sim as well, they are trying to charge me £190!? This seems like a common problem with this phone that Sony should be dealing with. Surely £190 for a plastic tray isn't right? I am now paying £32 a month on contract for a cheap old Nokia because I have no way of putting a sim in my new Xperia.
Help? Could I just buy another plastic tray of the internet and do it all myself, or maybe I should go to a cheap local phone repair company? I think that that its a bit strange how a small phone repair shop in my local town can fix a phone for cheaper than a multi billionaire company...
Sorry to hear about your phone.
I would recommend that you contact your local Sony Xperia support (http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/support/contact-us/) in this case for more information and assistance as service and warranty is handled by the local support.
But i do suspect that the problem here is not just the plastic tray. If inserted the wrong way or with a SIM of wrong size the phones SIM-card reader might be damaged.
well in fairness the sim tray is very flimsy and should have been made so it couldnt go in the wrong way??? i hear sony have made the new ones one unit ??? so that in its self is admitting a floor in the old design ...
