xperia z charging but not charging

hi, please help me.i am having trouble with my xperia z.it says charging but its not actually charging i have connected it to wall charger and even tried pc charging but still my battery level is stuck at 19% at times 20% but thats it.i tried the power button and volume up reset but nothing happened.i tried updating the software but a prompt says that i cant do the update because it needs 50% battery level ;( what can i do? i tried charging it handset off for an hour but the battery level is still the same.will very much appreciate any help.thank you!

Power button+vol up until the phone vibrates,at the same time press them.The charger might be damaged,can you try another?

power phone off and charge it while in off mode hopefully that will then put battery % to 100% once done

Or... just let it alone without charging for about 10 minutes and then plug it again, i suffer from this some times (like once in a month), i think it is a malfunction on the thermostat that makes the phone think the battery is hot so it slows down the charging process to a crawl. there are a lot of units with this failure, luckily it doesn't go mad very frequently..
