Check if you might have many applications running in the background and try to close some of them and check again.

@Johan I've seen this issue since I got my Xperia Z, it doesn't matter if I have apps running or not, even quick launch from the lockscreen takes several seconds, it's not a "huge" issue, but it will be great if the camera launch as fast or faster than the Xperia S (less than a second). more over, if you switch from camera settings auto to scene etc it will take 1-2s to be able to use the camera.

I think Sony has a choice here - either run the camera app on startup as part of the boot sequence or just remember to start the camera after boot - either way same result

I think what you'll find is that other manufacturers do this to prep the camera ready for fast starting - should Sony do this - well probably

I am having exact same issue on my Xperial ZL (C6506) (Bell Mobility - Canada) Android Version: 4.1.2, Build number 10.1.A.1.395

It takes more like 5 seconds to open up a camera. Nothing running on the background. I can't beleive that SONY didn't test this software prior to releasing it.

I have same problem on Xperia Acro S. Camera starting lag is 5-3 seconds.

And that's MAJOR problem for me, because it makes phone camera useless in most cases I need it.

I use phone camera when I see something interesting... and while app is starting, thing I wanted to capture is already gone.

That happens all the time... pretty frustrating expetience Slightly_frowning_Face

What for there are all this dual core processors if they can't ensure such a simple thing as instant camera in the phone?

Huge usability fail )

I'm looking for the way I can solve that problem. Last two firmware updates changed nothing.

Is there a way to make camera app be always running as background process?
