Hi Everyone,
I really need to have this thing fixed as It gets REALLY annoying. My Xperia V is rebooting about every 20minutes while I'm listening to the music, or using other apps (ebook reader mostly). I thought it might be an app-related problem but it seems as if it is not. I tried to use the phone in the safe mode (as suggested in one of the threads in here) but that didn't solve the problem - THe phone is new, I bought it last month in Denmark and it's up to date with the system updates. What can I do??? Can somebody from the Sony Care write how to proceed with this case? THanks.
beside this and quite dissapointing battery life - I like this device.
Did you try to repair the phone software via PC Companion? If not, you should give it a try.

If the problem still persists after the repair, you should contact your local Xperia Support for information on how to send the phone in to service.
Thank you Samuel, I'll give it a try this weekend and will keep you posted about the results. Hope the system repair will help. Any idea what's causing the reboots?
Unfortunately I'm not able to repair the system software on the phone - PC companion is only letting me go through the preparation step (no.2) and than it stops. Tryied to uninstall PC Companion, download the newest version, cleaned my computers' cache, deactivated the firewall, no results.
If you have the possibility, you could try to use another PC to repair the phone, just in case there is something in the computer that makes it unable to update.
If it's still not possible to repair, you unfortunately have to send in the phone to a service center for repair, check my previous post for more info.

Hi
I am sorry to say that this is a problem that Sony still have not fixed. I am from Norway and have been in contact with support, only solution is repair the with software, it does not fix it. Then sent my phone in for repair, looks like they have done the same thing, still no success. In the last 3 days I have so far had 6 reboot, random. It seems to be linked to overheating, but I have not used more than 3 apps at one time(GPS, music and bluetooth). It is quite frustrating.
Hi guys,
have you tried to turn off anything in Smart connect application. I stopped him this morning and since then my phone works without reboot. Before that I had had 3 reboots for 20 minutes.
@plamend - I am glad that you fixed this, however it is very odd that this caused that particular issue. What did you have set in the Smartconnect application if you dont mind me asking?

Not sure if it's the same issue but I seem to have a working solution to my problem that was similar:
I experienced exactly the same problems as people have described here. Phone would randomly auto shutoff (and in some cases restart). I thought it may be related to network access or file IO as the restarts seemed more often when using the phone more heavily or when in transit and moving across areas of low network/signal quality (interestingly at work where we have a very strong signal it restarted less frequently). I had reset the phone and removed and reinstalled all apps as suggested by Sony. Waste of time. Kept happening. I was reluctantly about to send the phone to Sony although with little hope of them being able to resolve it based on comments here when it struck me that the behavior was very similar to how the phone shuts down when the battery is drained. As far as I could tell my battery was good. It hadn't suffered any of the problems that people have reported elsewherewith incorrect charged status and seemed to charge and discharge linearly but figured that I would see if a new battery solved the problem. It did. I replaced the battery this time last week and no restarts at all since. Previously it would have gone 10 to 20 times per day (the ones I would know about as there were probably more when I wasn't watching).
I can't guarantee this but in my situation it worked for me.
Word of warning: I bought a replacement battery on eBay. Read the reviews carefully. The first one I bought just didn't even charge! however the second one from a different seller works an absolute treat.
Hope this helps others. I was very close to hitting it with a hammer as it was so frustrating but now I have my Xperia V back and It's great again !!
If this does prove to be the solution and others can confirm we should be pushing Sony to ship replacement batteries as a matter of course to anyone who expriences this. @Samuel and the rest of the Sony Xperia Support Staff please can you comment on whether Sony will do this.
@ sam- Actually it is a partial fix. i still have unexpected reboots but not so frequently. You can try just to turn off those application from settings-> applications -> all applications ( tab) then then select smart connect and click on deny button .
