Xperia tablet Z WiFi (sgp312) - My Xperia app missing & can't receive any recent software updates

Dear All,

I was browsing this forum & The Internet earlier today hoping that someone has encountered this already - but have not seen any similar issue reported. Hence the inquiry.

In short: I own this tablet since early August, also have purchased Xperia Z phone quite recently- which sadly triggered the problem. After I started upgrading the latter once it was removed from the box, I have noticed that apart from the Android itself there were number of internal apps upgraded and installed at the same time: SONY Walkman, Album etc., which I have not seen earlier on my tablet.

I have not thought about it too much at that time though, however when I've learned about quite useful feature: locate / lock / erase the device via myxperia.sonymobile.com, I started configuring both devices accordingly. And to my utmost surprise: I can do it on the phone, I can't on the tablet: there is simply no My Xperia app in settings menu available at all.

According to information here: http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/software/tablets/xperia-tablet-z-wifi/

(The my Xperia application that helps you find your phone and secure everything you have on it. Read more at myxperia.sonymobile.com)

it definitely should be possible to do so, however gentleman from SONY support I briefly spoke to earlier today was not convinced that it should be the case (neither was I with his explanations).

That in turn has asked for more investigation and I believe that:

* my Xperia app / option is simply not available where it simply should be

* And more: none of the apps that were released after the latest Android was installed were updated on my tablet - early September, I think. They were on the phone though,

* Diagnostics app on the tablet tells me that latest software update was performed N/A, on the phone it correctly states week or so ago.

Unless I am missing something bleeding obvious I would be very much grateful for any advice how if this is expected behaviour as I do believe this situation is not exactly correct and suspect that updater simply got stuck somewhere or this is another unhandled exception scenario.

Your thoughts / experiences / explanations will be very much appreciated.

Edit: spelling

That was quick!

Google - have seen it earlier, no issue here, however I believe that it has some limitations when compared with SONY service.

Links to Walkman / My Xperia - fine and thanks very much for these. However that does not really address the issue (and apologies for being picky but I just abhor disorder :smileysmileywink:):

* Why these have not been pushed to my device yet? (provided information on SONY website states that this should be available already?)

and

* Why report within Diagnostics app confesses that latest updates check is N/A?

Is this just by design (or: as per SONY usual behaviour) or something did not work according to plan?

Could someone with this tablet confirm this to me? (UK market)

Just like any update you have to wait for it to be approved and released in your country

http://www.sonymobile.com/global-en/software/tablets/xperia-tablet-z-wifi/

Latest available software

You may already have the latest software, depending on the date of purchase. Software updates are released at different times depending on operator and/or country. Therefore, we cannot give you an exact date for when a specific update will be available for your device.

Android version: Google Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean)

Latest available software: 10.3.1.C.0.136

Release started: 2013-08-28

Oh dear, that is somewhat ridiculous, to say the least. Main release (x.136) is there, single apps are not. I still smell a rat.

In either case manual download bodged up the situation for the time being - I really look forward to seeing it available officially though.

Edit: Forgot to add: thanks very much!

No problem, you should contact Sony directly and let them know what you think of this issue

thanks! now my sgp311 has my xperia 🙂

Xperia J installs it, but doesn't appear in Xperia menu. I can see it in downloaded apps and I can uninstall it...any ideas?
