Answer to your problem: press and hold power key and volume down button at the some time for 2 seconds. Well i had the same problem-freezing screen,apps that didnt work,system error message... it seems that that the probem was this-i updatet the tablet via wi-fi and install it on the older version of android without reseting. The solution is:

1.You have to download http://www.sonymobile.com/gb/tools/update-service/

2.Install it,run it on your computer-choose the type of the device you`re using,it will show you that you have already the latest version of Android but it will have the butoon "Install".Install again the update,it will erase all old things on the tablet and your tablet will be clean and fresh.

Glad that Sony Update tool worked for you. Too bad they don't offer a Mac version.

Does it also fix these errors?
-Screen flicker on chrome with keyboard open
-YouTube lag for about half a second when pressing once to see the info or pause

Immune the Sgp311 and I've noticed a few, sometimes it hangs for a good 2 minutes where it's unresponsive and screen off, usually when i open the cover while it's charging (official cover)
Also keyboard flashes a lot 😕

Well,i there is no flickering with the keybooard anymore,but i`m using Mozilla,i hope it will work with Chrome too. The only problem is that Shutting down is taking a longer time ....

This tablet was made to work or to have troubles with.

Im in front of my router and my tablet says "is not in range"

Im not going to resset this tabl;et is 1 week old ,something more 2014 ,need a way to use this **bleep**

tufn off bluetooth if it's on. Maybe it will help
