xperia T will not charge or turn on - FAR too common issue!!!!!!

3 days ago I shut my phone off (as I was in a no service area and wanted to conserve battery) and it shut down perfectly fine. I decided to charge when I got to an area with AC mains and I plugged it into the wall charger it came with. When I shut the phone down it was at 21% battery. When I came back 3 hours later there was no indicator light on my phone nor would it power on. If I press pwr & VOL+ it did begin a reset but as soon as it booted it showed the battery to be at 4%. This quickly dropped to 0% and I got a warning "beep" then the phone just shut off. It will not charge at all when plugged into any charger or cable. At this stage the ONLY response I can get is if I press and hold power until the red led blinks, plug in the usb and keep holding power. As long as I hold power the led stays red. After about 5 min of holding the power button the phone will reboot then do the exact same thing. I cannot get my phone to charge or stay on while connected to the charger.  I have even left my phone sitting on the charger for 30+ hours without any effect.

Everything points me to a bad battery but taking it in for service is not a viable option yet as I have data on the phone that I cannot afford to lose. I do not want to risk a full phone replacement just for a bad battery.

Please let me know what other troubleshooting I can attempt to resolve this. I should let you know that I have had my X10, xperia play, xperia arc and now xperia T all have this same battery charging issue and have ALL been replaced under warrenty. I am really getting displeased. Of ALL of the android phones out there I like Sony's best, but if I have to lose all my data by having this phone replaced under warranty this WILL be the LAST Sony product I ever buy again.

Update:  Issue is resolved.  Oddly enough I had a friend call last night who's T did the exact same thing and she was freaking out as Sony told her they would not fix it under warranty.

I finally managed to get my T to take a charge by pressing on holding Power & VOL+ until the indicator LED began to blink.  While still holding Power & VOL+ I plugged in the usb cable connected to a mains charger.  I hed both down for a solid 3 minutes and then let go ov VOL+ while continually holding Power.  Hold down Power for another solid 5 min with the LED lit solid red.  I let go of Power and the LED actually STAYED red this time.  I set the phone down and 30 min later the LED was still solid red.  So far so good.  After 5 hours the LED FINALLY went to orange.  I let it sit for a full 12 hours on charge and when I woke up the LED was now green.  I unplugged the usb and powered ont he phone.  It went through an odd boot cycle where it started up and got the "waves" for the startup screen and then would shut down then restart again.  It did this 3 times and on the fourth time it completed a boot and all was working again.  Even though the LED had been green once it finally booted I was only at 52% power.  I plugged int he usb again and it showed it was hopping back and forth from charging to discharging.  I tried 2 other wall chargers and both did the same thing.  I shut it down again.  let it sit for 5 min and then started it again.  This time when I plugged in the usb it started to solidly charge and withing 1 hour I was at 100%.

A HORRIBLY convoluted process and something that Sony MUST address.  Too many users have this same problem and we just keep getting ignored.  When I called Sony about this they simply told me it has to be replaced under warranty.  I call BS.
