For me the moral of the story is : don't update to soon, wait a while and watch the comments...

I updated my T two days ago it is now showing the word SONY, will not turn off and even allowing the battery to run down wont help as soon as the charger goes on SONY appears and it wont go any further PC doesn't connect to device so where do I go from here except back to the shop...

Well I updated it in the vain hope that it might turn into a decent phone, but I can see absolutely no differences whatsoever. It is still a brick, its basic USPs are not working as they should (or not at all), the camera is still useless, I have to charge it three times a day even though I hardly use it and it is red hot in my hand as I am writing this (which is very slow due to the jerky keyboard).

Couldn't agree more.

Nice to see the camera exactly with the same shitt*y quality than day 1.

The overheating now is just ridiculous. Seems in every new update it overheats more.

That's not at all true though is it! The camera got a massive upgrade in functionality and picture quality when we moved to Jelly Bean. Admittedly it still has poor compression which is compounded by the fact that unlike iOS it allows you to zoom in really close in the photo album app.

I'm not getting the overheating issue at all.

Sounds like you have an issue there, I've upgraded and get easilly a full day of light/medium use out of my phone. I only need to charge it overnight. The overheating sounds like some app has crashed in the background and is killing your CPU, which would cause both overheating and battery loss.

I hate to say it but a full reset and repair via the PC companion app might be in order. Make sure that everythnig is backed up first then delete the content of your phone then run a the repair on it. It's agressive but it clears out all those android apps you tried and decide against whilst allowing you to determin if the phone is faulty or it was a software issue. If the phone is faulty send it back and demand a refund. If it's the software then it should run pretty sweet after 141.

The upgrade had one great feature, making my fone switch off by itself. It starts at about 80% battery life and gets more frequent as uget to 50%. lower than this its unusable, switch on, touch the screen, and it switches back off again.

Usefull if u dont want to receive any calls, I have a mobile for exacly ths reason, not to receive calls.

Sony we need a solution

Some users has the same problem than you.

I said before that, seeing how sony does things with their updates, we will not see a new one til next September/October.

Sony probably will ask you to reinstall and all those things. Did you do already?.

Just got my phone back last week, lost everything but had my contacts backed up in advance. still I will be wary of updating in future what is the point of a device that dies if you try to make it better ???

Question for SONY part of the update states take out the battery.... you cant on a T why not make your advice a bit more model specific instead of generalising it might help avoid confusion and complaints

I also tried to update via PC  the O2 James Bond to 141 and the Xperia T is stuck on the white triangle with the key and screwdriver on it ! No matter how long I waited (even 6 hours) it still shows that. I only could revert to 4.0.4 ICS with SonyUpdateService.
