Xperia SP needs KitKat update (Samsung Galaxy S3 is getting KitKat)

Hello Sony team,

I am an Engineer at Qualcomm Inc.

I bought Sony Xperia SP about an year ago in India. I was about to buy Samsung Galaxy S3, but wanted to try Sony and found Xperia SP to be a compelling option against Samsung Galaxy S3.

Now I heard that Xperia SP will not get KitKat update. However, Samsung is providing KitKat update for Galaxy S3 which was released an year earlier than Xperia SP. If Samsung is providing KitKat update to it's 2 year old mobile, why can't Sony do to it's only 1 year old mobile?

From a technical perspective, Xperia SP is in huge need of KitKat update because of the less RAM. Xperia SP has only 1 GB of RAM out of which only 750 MB is available. This hugely impacts the multi-taslking performance of Xperia SP.

As Android KitKat hugely reduces the memory footprint of the OS, it will be most benecial to all Xperia SP users to get KitKat update.

Xperia SP has highly competitive spcs, almost same as Moto X, which is already running KitKat. I have a lot of friends who bought Xperia SP and now want KitKat update. It will be huge let down by Sony if KitKat update is not provided. We all trusted Sony, and now Sony should play its part.

I know how difficult it will be for Sony to lay out a team for Xperia SP's KitKat update along with so many devices to launch in the pipeline. You can provide a late update, but please do provide. If you really do that, you will have a lot of trustworty customers, who will always choose Sony over Samsung or any other brand.

All other users of Xperia SP who want a KitKat update can support this post.

Samsung looks like an used soap bar with ugly home button on it. They use cheap plastic, the price of their products is enormous,k because they spend a lot of money on Advertisement.  I´d rather buy some phone from china than that.

Sure, but the result is that the Company (Samsung) support yet a product issued 3 years ago.
So now you have a nice (not wonderful) designed smartphone, but… without support/sw upgrades after few months spent in your pocket…
I don't know for you, but for me it's not a good deal!

I believe, that Sony will get better and SP will recieve kitkat. If not, I will choose another brand the next time. But not samsung

Now me thinks and realizes that Sony and or Xperia SP don't need Kitkat, but all they need is good engineers that know what they're doing and what to do for God's sake.

Will there be any kitkat update for SP? We need to know.. At least we can sell this device at reasonable price and will try to move to other companies who really care about customers... I bought sp as it was written on website about future kitkat version. But sony people made us fool. What is actually going on!?!?!??

please provide kitkat,even if it as a late update..after 4.3 update whole smoothness of my phone losted...so many bugs,restarting,flickering,led while calling,app crashng,battery draining,nly 200mb remaing...and go on....u made a beautiful phne into a total waste..plz provide 4.4 update...and show the real belief to customers

I would be the most grateful guy if Sony would release KitKat for 4.4. I have bought the PS1,2,3,4 and the SP and never owned a microsoft games console nor phone but Sony can't let us down now. Such a powerful phone is now slower than an iPhone 3G...
