I've had my xperia sp about a year now, and i was really pleased when i got it but after a few weeks, it started freezing and staying on the screen it had frozen on and would not un-freeze. I've tried all of the suggestions (force start etc.) but none seem to work. I ended up having to take my SIM card out and re-inserting it every time it happened, as the battery doesn't come out, and this seemed to work. However, today, my phone has done it's usually freezing on a screen and not turning off/on or un-freezing. I've taken out my SIM card and re-inserted it but it has not worked like it usually would, it has stayed on the screen and not rebooted like it has done in the past. I've tried pressing the on/off button, force-starting, and tried using the off button on the back of the phone but nothing is working. It is still stuck on the same screen, with the same time, battery percentage and 'home' button lit up, as that was the last button used.
Is there any way to un-freeze my phone? And how can it be prevented?
SO fed up of this happening! Please help if you have any ideas!
Hi,
If you remove back cover at the bottom you will find small hole with a marking 'OFF'. With ball point pen if yo press, this will switch off the phone.
If the problem persists try reinstall the software with Sony PC companion.
You can minimise the back ground processes by oing to the developper options.
Remove some unwanted programs. Remove all the live wall papers.
see that free ram is minimum 100 mb.
Do regular restarting of the phone atleast once in a week.
I am currently experiencing the exactly same thing. My on/off botton works, but it takes me to the lock-screen, and then I am stuck, since the screen isn't responding.
I have tried pressing the "kill"-button on the back under the rear cover, but nothing happens.
I have also tried using the Sony PC Companion, but for it to work, it wants me to restart the phone, which I can't.
You're a life saver! Thank you so much it worked like charm
