Xperia SP does not charge

I have owned a Xperia SP since June 2013 and i couldnt charge my phone when i plugged the sony phone into the socket(i use the sony adapter that was given in the pacakge when i bought the phone)i couldnt charge the phone no matter where i plug it in(into a socket,a computer etc). The PC companion did not recognise my phone when i connected the USB charger to the phone in the computer.I had this problem once about 1 and a half months back and i brought the phone to the sony service center. The phone could charge over there suddenly and i could charge the phone when i came back home. And they didnt even do anything to the phone, the staff just charged the phone using a sony adapter. Now this problem came back and i dont know what to do now!I dont want to go back to the service center and im wondering if there is any solution to this problem.Perhaps i should ask the sony staff to change the motherboard in my phone?i need help ASAP thanks!

It could be a problem with the usb cable.Did you try another?

I have also the same usb problem, I have two computers, one with Win 7 32 bit, there the connection and usb loading works fine, but in the pc with Win 7 64 bit, I don't work, so there must be a bug in this connection matter, previous Nokia worked in both computers with no problems.

Just got the phone for three days now and the maximum it charge up to was 80% only and that was on the first day I first got it. I really don't understand this and mine didn't even come with a plug so I have to use my macbook to charge it all the time. I have left the phone connected to my mac to charge overnight for these past two nights but it still won't charge. This is so inconvenient and annoying.

I resolved the problem by taking a small plastic brush that came supplied with my hair clippers and slightly moistened it using water. Be sure only to use a very small amount of water. I then inserted the brush into the micro USB port on my phone and also inside the micro USB connector teeth. The twisting action throughly cleaned the insides and removed all the dirt and grease accumulated when the phone was inside my pocket. My Sony Xperia SP now charges without any problems and so should yours. Good luck!

My SP has recently developed this charging issue. Very frustrating to say the least, but when I charge via the PlayStation, it weirdly enough, charges just fine (and quickly).

Which leaves me wondering is my plug socket defective? Is the plug supplied with the phone the issue?
