Xperia SP Charging Issue

Hi,

I updated my phone to the latest firmware 12.0.A.2.245 and after the update, whenever the phone turns off and i put it on charging, it turns on and then charges

Now my phone does not charge in switch-off mode.

Even if there is battery in the phone and i turn it off and then plug the charger. it simply turns on and charges.

Any help is appreciated.

When you connect a charger to the phone when it is turned off, the display will light up and you will see a battery icon with a flash inside it. The phone is still turned off in this mode. 

If you phone starts completely I suggest that you try with another charger to see if you experience the same problem.

As told by you, i tried charging with some other charger also. i experienced the same issue with that charger too.

Even i connected my phone in switch off mode to my laptop see if it started charging, but instead it turned on and started charging.

Please help.

Strange! Have you tried to do a repair of the phone software in PC Companion? 

If not I suggest that you do this to see if it helps:

If the problem persists after a repair of the phone software it sounds like you should have the phone examined by a service center. Please contact your local support for more information:

i have exactly the same problem. I can't charge my phone when it's off. I connect the charger and the phone automatically turns on. So is a bug i guess.

EDIT: THe problem is related to the root method...

Hi yeah ok i got my xperia sp about 2 months ago and last night it had 5℅ battery when i went to bed so i put it on charge at night i wake up the next day for school then i left the main switch off and it was dead battery so i had to leave it at home then i put it on charge the nxt nght and it managed to turn on i went to text a friend then it shut itself down i tried again after and did it agian so i leave it for aboout 1 hour then it wouldnt even turn on or charge but then i know this sounds weird but every time i pressed the power on/unlock button the led bar would light a dim red so say i quickly kept presiing it the light would flash in the pattern i pressed it now i dont know what to do i listened to my charger and its making a weird sound while its plugged in and for about 30 secs aftdr i unplug it so i really need plz reply with options to try yes ive tried different charger and still no working i dont know what to do it will not work?

Follow the suggestions on this thread if nothing work take it to a Sony repair center, please don't create duplicate threads

OMG! That is exactly what mine did! I put it on charge when I went to bed, then I woke up the next morning to find out I was incredibly late for college cause my phone was completely out of battery meaning my alarm didn't go of. And my charger was making a wierd noise when it was plugged in and for about 30 secs after I unplugged it. However my phone is only a week old and I have no idea why this happened, any help?? My phone is now currently charging (thank god) however I definitely don't want this to happen again!

Same problem for me, I mean that it turns on when charging... And it causes problems to unlock the bootloader.

So if you could give us a solution we would be thankful...
