Hello there,
Currently in possession of a Sony Xperia S that isn't acknowledging the SIM card.
About a month ago I went to watch the cricket only to notice the screen on my phone had cracked and was gradually spreading to the point where it was impossible to function the phone. This particular day had been very wet and although my phone hadn't been exposed to the rain directly, the dampness of the inside of my jacket may have caused it to get water damaged.
So unbeknown to me, I ended up with a phone that was both cracked AND water damaged despite not being able to pinpoint how or why this had happened; I hadn't dropped it or anything.
Unfortunately the phone wasn't insured although chances were they wouldn't have paid out on a phone that was water damaged anyway so I took it to be repaired,
The screen was fixed no problem, but the specialist who is looking at the phone hasn't managed to work out why the phone isn't detecting a signal. The phone knows a sim card is there but despite replacing the antenna, sim card memory flex and ribbon, the phone is still not working.
Any help would be appreciated!
A theory I have (which I am yet to check out and hopefully is the solution because it wouldn't cost me a penny!) could be that while I was without the xperia, I returned to my old phone and was sent a replacement sim card to use that for the time being. Is there any chance that for the replacement sim card to work, the micro-sim that was in the xperia had to be disabled and is the reason it is not detecting a signal? A long shot I know but as I haven't received the phone back, it is one I'm yet to try out.
Thanks guys
Simon
I think you should get a brand new "MICRO" SIM card, if that doesn't work then perhaps the water damaged something else
