Hi,
lately I've been having a problem - my Xperia S is recognizing computers as chargers only. As in, nothing pops out upon connection, not found in device manager, not seen by PC Companion, etc.
Tried connecting it to three different computers: Win7 x64, Win8 x86, Win8 x64 - all the same, no effect at all.
Tried different USB cables - no effect.
Tried different USB ports - no effect.
Tried reinstalling WMP - no effect.
The phone doesn't show "USB connection" when connected, just chargin'. Shows "Unplug your charger from socket to save energy" after unplugging from USB.
What should I do to resolve this problem ?
Hmm, strange. As it's not recongized at all there is unfortunately not much you can do by yourself. You could try performing a master reset of the phone. If that doesn't work, it might be related to hardware and then you need to send in this phone to a service center for repair. Contact your local Xperia support for more information.
Resetted the phone to factory settings - no effect. This is dissapointing.
Is there no service menu I can tamper with?
hi
i am getting same problem as Mr.Levich and i had try all of these things but notting happend...
uninstall both PCC and SUS > restart your PC > re-install SUS & update JAVA > restart your PC > disable your antivirus and firewall
turn off your phone > press and hold volume down THEN connect the USB cable do NOT release the volume down button > your computer should download the drivers needed

Service replied with "phone PCB damaged by static electricity" and that the warranty is now void. Haven't received the phone yet and still don't know, whether or not they've repaired it, so a question - how severe could this damage be (as in, how hard to repair) and can it really undo my warranty?
I've also attached a photo below which came from the service.
I don't really think I'm the right person to answer this. Contact the support in your country (check my previous post above for link) and they should be able to help you further or help you get in touch with someone who can. They have people at the service center or support center that can judge that picture better then me.
