Xperia S headphone compatibility

Hi all,

I've searched through forums and can see that people often have issues with headphone compatibility with Xperia S. But I still can't figure this out...

Do only Sony headphones work with this phone?

If I try to use my pair of Sony MDR-V150s, the sound just keeps coming out of the phone speakers.

If I try to use my pair of Phillips Uptowns, the sound comes through the headphones but it sounds weird, weak, tinny, and electronically distorted.

Is this likely to be a compatibility issue? I've run 'software repair' on the phone with no change.

Do I just need to buy one of the sony headsets advertised as being compatible? Or is my phone broke? (I just bought it 2nd hand, so my worry is that I bought a dodgy phone.... hopefully not though!)

Cheers for any comments or suggestions,

David

That seems like a hardware issue, double check if there's any dust inside the 3.5mm port

It turned out to be definitely a hardware issue. Works fine with bluetooth headphones.
