Hi. My XS hanged yesterday while I was just trying to play a game. God knows why? I could not resolve the hang and had to return the phone to the service center.( There is no battery remove option). EVen the service people could not resolve the hang and they said, your phone will be sent to the Head Office.
Seriously???? It's pathetic.
Why did the Phone hang?
How could sony go for such pathetic Design??
How poor the service response is???
did you try the power + volume up button like the manual says?
No... Just tried the Power Button... But if that worked, then the service center would have returned my phone in just a few minutes. They said they are sending it to head office. Implies that the method did not work...
Sorry that i have to laugh at this, but you can just do a hard reboot with Volume Up + Powerbutton
Mine also locked up (hanged) for like 3 times, trick always works.
(and it's not because of the phone that it hangs, it the software/app that you use (bad coding, mem leaks)
THANKS for the reply! Next time it hangs I will try this trick.
Thanks Razje for the post. My Xperia S hanged today morning and I was worried a lot. I was trying to find a solution on the internet and fortunately saw your post. I did the hard reboot and the problem got immediately resolved. Thanks again for posting this trick on the internet. Is there some kind of software available which can be used to correct this issue permanently.
brilliant thx a lot Razje. I was waiting for the battery to drain out. volume up + Power button combo restarted my phone.
@sony i am not even using that many app and whatever i am using is developed by code gurus like google/fb/twitter.
I think the issue is with Android 2.3. Hopefully ICS will make our loved OS stable and bug free.
Apart from this hanging issue i am in love with my xperia S. It has really helped me take off my work pressure after office (I am a tech manager with a news media network and it demands me to be on my toes 24*7).
Great phone awaiting ICS update!
Cheers

All Android phones lockup at some point, my Motorola Defy did it about 5 times a week. Sony cannot account for all the variations of apps people install simple as that.
