Xperia –Ray display problem

I bought my Xperia ray six months back. Updated my phone software to ICS on last month. It was working absolutely fine after ICS update. From last five day i am facing the problem in display. When I trying to unlock my phone through power button or home button just backlight turning on, but the screen remain blank (black). If I turn on my phone after keep my phone idle for 3-4hrs, then it shows unlock bar screen without any problem. Due to that I could not able use my phone now.

Still i can able to attend my call by connecting through headset. But I could not able see the caller ID, it remains blank.

I tried to resolve this issue by doing factory reset, and software repair through PC companion. But I could not solve the problem. Can anyone help me to resolve this issue?

This porblem is not just for you.

see this post: http://talk.sonymobile.com/thread/44169 other poeple discussed about it before

it is a hardware issue not software. I solve the problem somehow by presseing the power button rapidly for 5 or 6 times and screen will be ON! Winking_Face

now my problem is that I can't change my firmware by recovery mode! cuz the there screen is completely OFF!!! :smileyangry::smileyshocked:

I have had a similar problem.

Contacted Sony support via their web site. suggested updating PC_Companion and using the repair function.

They advised the following

  1. download this here: http://www-support-downloads.sonymobile.com/Software%20Downloads/PC_Companion_2.02.015_Web.exe
  2. Please make sure your phone is completely powered off at all times and only connect it to the PC when the repair/update section prompts you to connect.
  3. Open PC Companion and go to: Support Zone > Software Updates > Repair Phone.
  4. Please Note: All data stored on the phones memory will be lost during this process. Anything on the SD card would not be affected.

Has worked so far. Touch wood, don't want to tempt fait.

Hi all.

I have solution for this problem:

+Download ray fw 2.3.3 or 2.3.4 and flash via flashtool.

+Then download and flash this kernel(requiered UB): DooMLoRD kernel - http://www.mediafire.com/?fh69fmt8tsc6esc

This is original post: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1267294

Ps: i dont know how to edit this kernel. May be edit doomlord kernel and downgrade cpu oc 2ghz to 1 ghz or lower may improve battery.

Did it really work for you? I doubt!

I have tried downgrading the ROM but it didn't solve the porblem !!! (but didn't change any kernel job)

by the way, you mean this fix would make the phone, eat the battery soon?

I didn't understand, the xperia ray cpu clock is fixed on 1GHz; not 2GHz! what did u mean to downgrade the cpu clock???

Hello,

I have already sent my ray 2 times to service, with the details mentioned here about the screen probem, now they returned it again but stated again no issues found, what can I do so that SONY will finally fix this issue for me? (From Belgium)

I tried the method you mentioned, it didn't work for me!!!

I wasted my time downgrading the ROM and flash the kernel and after no result I had to flash the latest version again!

I want to change my ROM into a custome one but I cant boot to recovery mode (no display in that level)

any opinion???
