Xperia Pro issues after ICS update

Hey,

About 2 months back, I upgraded to ICS. Since then, I have been having problems with many of the basic functions of the phone.

  • When a call comes in, it takes a few seconds for the phone to recognize the address book entry and show the name. Until then, the number is displayed.
  • When I tap on the Contacts, it takes about 6-7 seconds for it to load. The search contact feature sometimes doesn't function. Mind you, I have over 2500 contacts. Is this the issue?
  • Similar lags with the Phone button
  • Multiple background crashes
  • But the most annoying feature is that the on-screen keyboard has a very bad lag and other similar issues.
    • Sometimes, I type in the entire word and only the last two letters are displayed
    • In many programs, when I'm typing something, the keyboard suddenly disappears and I have to tap the field where I am typing again to make it reappear, only for it to go back down again.
    • Many times, related to the lag, there are spelling problems. For example, when I type in the word "problems," the first two letters come up, and then the dictionary kicks in and completes the word for me. But the final product is something like "prproblems"
    • This last problem is there with the physical keyboard too.
  • Music playback from the SD freezes for a second every 2 minutes or so

Apart from the fact that Contacts took some time to load up in Gingerbread as wells, none of these issues were there before the ICS update.

Yesterday, I installed another update. But the situation remains almost the same.

What should I do?

Regards,

Krishna

turn on your wifi then settings > about phone > software update. also you can scroll down there and check your android version and build number.

It is .587. But the phone remains to be slow. Slightly_frowning_Face

Try to make a factory reset and then another upgrade (before the reset, make a backup)
