Hi,
Just got my xperia play (very nice by the way), and it alleges to have support for WMA files for music, however, when I try and copy these over I get the message saying the file needs to be converted otherwise it won't play ... is that correct? My last SE phone worked fine for WMA ....
Thanks for any help with this issue.
Cheers
Paul
if it comes to worse you could convert the files on your computer using formatfactory (its free)
you can also try PowerAmp

Hi,
What file types will Power Amp play? I've been looking and looking, but can't find any information on this. Also, what about Winamp? What files will that play?
Cheers,
Ben
poweramp

Key Features:
- plays mp3, mp4/m4a (including alac), ogg, wma*, flac, wav, ape, wv, tta (* some wma pro files may require NEON support)
Winamp is quite similar
To be honest I have had some issues getting this format to play even with the use of applications that claim to support the file extension. The best way to ensure that you do not face this problem would be to transfer the files to the handset using MediaGo so that they are all in a fully supported format:
Its all good and well to suggest using MediaGo but when you have over 20 GB of music in WMA format you are talking literally days to transfer it all ... and MediaGo is hardly the most robust piece of software I've ever used to say the least.
As you've probably already figured out the Xperia PLAY has not default support for playing WMA files, so I would suggest that you use any third party application to play your WMA files.
As I'm aware of there's: PowerAMP, Power Music Player and aPlayer.
