Xperia Play Android 2.3.4 Root

Hello,

I'm new to rooting but i wanted to essentially remove bloatware from my xperia play. Does this involve flashing new firmware onto my phone ? because im happy with the software, i dont really want to install new firmware again ?

Also could you please explain the difference between rooting & flashing firmware ?

& finally is there an alternative to removing bloatware other than rooting ?

go to settings > about phone > which build number do you have? if you have the .42 then you can root your phone with SuperOneClick, it's quite simple

i am running 2.3.4 build 4.0.2.a.0.42

can i root my phone using superoneclick? do i just enable debugging, unmount sd and click root, is it that easy?

the main reason why i wanna do this is due to low internal space although i have 32gb sd i can't move certain apps and i dont have any space left.

yes you can root your phone using superoneclick. you can not move certain apps, unless you use an app like links2sd or partition the SD card
