I have been a Sony Xperia Play r800x owner for over 2 years - I don't want another phone. I can't understand why Sony supposedly won't create a 2nd version of the Xperia Play - to me that's a HUGE mistake. Android gaming is getting more and more popular, and who wants to carry a Moga around to attach their cell phones to so you can have the gaming buttons that the Xperia Play already has....what are you waiting for ? Please Sony, create a Sony Xperia Play 2 - put 16gb internal on this, dual core the processors and maybe upgrade the camera a bit....just make some tweaks to update it. If you market this phone correctly, it will be a HUGE success. I keep holding out to see if you will create the 2nd version of this phone - I really like the slideout gamepad on the Xperia Play - what a unique and great product. I see they're coming out with portable Android gaming devices....with NO phone! What's the point?! I'm telling you that a 2nd version of Xperia Play would steal the market if it's done right. Who would I have to talk to at Sony to get the ball rolling? There has to be a way to convince management/developers to create another spin on this product - please let me know who I could write to. Thanks!
There are other threads on the same topic, I think the problem was when Sony coulnd't update the Xperia Play to ICS since there were many compatibility issues with games and apps. Have you considered a bluetooth game pad ?
just my 2 cents of thought -:smileygeek:
Look at the mess they got into when the Play was introduced a few years ago. Consumers indicated they wants it, out it comes the Xperia Play. It was optimised for gaming but consumers cannot accept the comprise to the other features. Any dedicated game machine optimised on a smartphone will have to be compromise with performance for the other features and function that users used daily. The current Sony machines that are on the market are fully capable for gaming and nicely balanced.
Hi Uliwooly,
I actually have the Gamestop Bluetooth gamepad(looks like a PS2 controller) which works well with my tablet - but I wanted an all in 1 device like the Xperia Play - it's just really nice to have a slideout gamepad included. I know Sony can do it again - sad that it's not being considered. 😞
higwayman,
That's a good 2 cents you put in - appreciate that. For some reason I don't think they marketed the Xperia Play properly, or shall I say correctly. I didn't even know it existed until Verizon had a tv ad special to get it free after $50 rebate. I had never heard of the Xperia Play until then. I was at the store the next morning to get it and have no regrets. I rooted it so I was able to clean out a lot of the Verizon "bloatware" so I have more than enough space for everything on it....but several people I showed it to had no idea that phone existed and they wanted to get one. Such a unique product. I ended up buying another new one on Ebay since it didn't look like they were going to make a 2nd version of it *sigh*.
