you don't have to create multiple threads.

on the youtube app there should be a small icon that says HQ

if it doesn't look good then access the youtube video on a computer and check if the video is indeed HD or it was uploaded w/ lower resolution.

If you're rooted try this.

It plays 720p on my Xperia P with this mod.

If I dont want to root my phone , what should I do? I dont want to void the warranty...

You can't do something. HQ is very low for that kind of resolution anyway. Download the video on 720p via an App or the Computer and test it on your Phone.

No more solution for that?

Probably not. If you're not rooted there's probably nothing you can do about it.
Like i said, download the video to your Phone on 720p, 480p and play them.
If the 480p is equal to the Video from the YouTube App and the 720p is way better, then there's nothing wrong here.

HQ is 854 x 480 (in 16:9).

Take a look here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/480p#Resolutions.
Xperia P's screen is 540 x 960 which the video might be a bit blurry. Test the same video on 480p and 720p and let me know :smileywink:.
