Hi all,
I am a new user of Xperia P. I am happy with my phone but i discovered a very very annoying problem today.
When i choose my network mode as "GSM only", it works fine for a time. But after a uncertain amount of time, it disconnects from network. I cannot make or recieve calls! The worse thing is that this happens while the signal shows 4 bars. There is no sign or clue that tells me the network is gone. The only way is i make test calls! That is awfull! The phone is completely useless in "GSM only" mode. I never know if i am reachable! After making test calls and see the network is gone, i choose network mode "WCDMA (preferred)/GSM", then i start make and recieve calls.
As i read previous discussions, most of users with ICS has the same problem. The only differense is they see signal drop on the screen, but i don't.
Please help me if someone has any idea? I cannot use my phone as a phone! Automatic network mode drains battery incredibly, so i want to use "gsm only" mode since it is very very less battery consuming.
Thanks in advence
Hi there,
Today finally i saw that the signal has gone completely and the phone gave the error "Network is not accessible".
Any ideas? What to do?
I've been using my own Xperia P in Network Mode "GSM only" for at least 6 months now.
Never had any problem, except when my I had no GSM only network available from my operator: in that case, the only networks that were available from my operator was a WCDMA network. But that is very seldom and on very specific spots in my country.
Maybe you are in that case...
I suggest that you first try using another SIM, but if it doesn't make any difference try to run a software reinstall using SUS.

If the problem still remains you should contact your local support team, to have the phone examined and fixed at an repair center.

In fact the problem is between my service provider and Sony. All Vodafone clients that are using Xperia P and Xperia Sola is suffering the same problem in Turkey. As Xperia users we communicated to Vodafone and the answer is "We know the issue and we are trying to solve problem together with Sony"
Anyway, i have found my own solution. Just leave data transfer (internet) open. Then it will never lose connection again.
