Xperia M5 mobile data bug

After I received the marshmallow update for my phone, my mobile data keeps switching on and off (even after I manually turn it off from settings) when it's connected to a wifi connection.
Is there a fix for this bug? If not, how do I report this problem to Sony?

When you are connecting to a wifi network, it should turn off and when you are out of range from that network it should turn back on on it's own. But you're saying after turning mobile data off, it still does this?

alexdon i can confirm this bug. Even when mobile data is off (yes manually turned off) and phone is connected to wifi it keeps turning on and off mobile data. (Specially when using camera). and when data is turned off and also wifi is off then every hour i get 2-3 notifcation that mobile data turned off which is also a bug and really annoying.  alexdon

After updating my Xperia M5 from lollipop to marshmallow ... My mobile data automatically turns on...but when I go to settings for turning it off, it shows that the sliding bar is on left side means it is off from settings. And mobile data icon is also black means it is off from here also. Because of this issue after update, money is deducted from my sim balance( 78 rupees) 😠😤😡. So how to fix this issue... Please reply ASAP

Alexdon, this happens only when I'm connected to a wifi network, despite being in range. I can never completely shut off my mobile data. It's beyond annoying, especially during when I'm trying to type a message.

By reading the description of the issue I can come up with multiple theories about what is happening.

"when using the camera app".. Is it possible that your location settings are set to use networks to get geolocation? Cell tower, ip address can be used to get an approximate location to store it in the exif data of the photo.

Another one can be Google Nearby, are you guys using that feature?

But mostly probably... Location settings set to Battery Saving...

Well it wasn't issue before update and also i have another Marshmallow phones so it is specific to this phone. It also gives notification saying phone data turned off. If it was location then that shouldn't happen and also i get message from my carrier that i connected and disconnected many times to data. (As my carrier sents me a message about how much used, cost etc everytime i disconnect data). Also i dont use Google nearby. And its a common issue many people are having. So its a bug in the firmware.

Hi,

Could anyone of you take a bug report of this? If so I can forward it internally for investigation.

To do this:

  1. Go to Settings > About phone > Build number, tap 7 times on the build number.
  2. Go back and select Developer options then turn on "USB debugging".
  3. Select Logger buffer size and change it to "4 M"
  4. Restart your phone, then wait for mobile data to turn on automatically.
  5. Go back to Settings > Developer options, select "Take bug report".

When the report is ready you will receive a notification. Tap the notification to share it. I suggest you upload it to Google Drive and then choose to share a public link to the upload and include the link in the PM.
