Xperia J using too much data

I started using an Xperia J since yesterday. Everything is good except that the phone is using way too much data. It uses upto 20 MB per hour when I'm not even using any application. I downloaded a Task Manager so that I don't leave any application running by mistake. I further downloaded a Data Manager to monitor the usage and it says that 50% of the data is being used up by the Download Manager. Strangely, I can't find this Download Manager anywhere! How do I stop the phone from consuming so much data?? Somebody please help!! Thanks.

Turn your data off when you're not using it.

Disable location services such as GPS when not in use.
Disable auto-sync for email, Skype etc.

I'm have unlimited data so I have no need to worry, but the above should help.
