xperia internal storage

My xperia u, running android 4.0.4, seems to have very little internal storage left. Settings/ storage shows total space of 3.98 GB; Apps 133 MB; Pictures, videos 78.10 MB; Audio etc 407 MB; misc 365 KB, and an availalble memory of 146 MB - any ideas if this can be right? I seem to run out of room pretty quickly and can't add much more music which is a pain.

Settings -> Storage will not display usage for all files. When you download apps and games these can store data on the internal memory as well. Try connecting the phone to a computer and access the phones memory from the computers file explorer. There you will see all files and folders and you can free up storage by deleting files but please note that if you delete data for an app/game that app/game might not work properly.

Didn't work, my memory is now completely full despite deleting almost all the photos on the phone. I can access the memory via pc but nothing much shows up - most of the folders are empty - despite the disc saying it's full.
